It lies in the eastern Jianghan Plain on the middle reaches of the Yangtze river’s intersection with the Han river. Wuhan is actually the conglomeration of three cities, Wuchang, Hankou and Hanyang which are on separate banks at the intersection of the two rivers.

It is 840kilometres west of Shanghai and 920 kilometres north of Hong Kong.

Wuhan's history dates 3500 years. It was the location of the famous Wuchang Uprising. The Wuchang Uprising was an armed rebellion against the ruling Qing Dynasty that took place in Wuchang on October 10, 1911, which was the beginning of the revolution that successfully overthrew China's last imperial dynasty. The uprising and the eventual revolution directly led to the downfall of the Qing dynasty with five millennia of imperial rule, and the establishment of the Republic of China (ROC), which commemorates the anniversary of the uprising's starting date of the 10th October as the National Day of the Republic of China.

Wuhan is a very progressive and beautiful city.

A few of the landmarks include

  1. the Yellow Crane which is a beautiful pagoda that is lit up at night.

It is a traditional Chinese tower. The current structure was built in 1981, but the tower has existed in various forms since not later than AD 223. The current Yellow Crane Tower is 51.4 metres) high and covers an area of 3,219 metres squared. It situated on Snake Hill one kilometre away from the original site, on the banks of the Yangtze river.

  1. Wuhan University
