There is a range of novice events for people to choose from:

• National Super Novice Pairs on 11 January. (Under 20 masterpoints as at 30/9/16)
• National Rising Star Pairs on 11 January. (Under 50 masterpoints as at 30/9/16)
• National Novice Teams Championship from 11-13 January. (Under 100 masterpoints as at 30/9/16)
• National Super Novice Teams on 12-13 January. (Under 20 masterpoints as at 30/9/16)
• National Rising Stars Teams from 12-13 January. (Under 50 masterpoints as at 30/9/16)
• Novice Swiss Pairs Championship on 14-15 January. (Under 100 masterpoints as at 30/9/16)
• South-West Pacific Teams Championship from 16-19 January. This event includes a novice category. (Under 100 masterpoints as at 30/9/16)
