Pianola - a new benefit at this year's VCC

Posted by James Ward on Monday, 6 June 2016 at 21:37

This year's congress is using Pianola, which means you'll be able to get your results by email straight after the game and analysis of your performance in each session.

You might already be familiar with Pianola as it's used by clubs large and small across Australia (and the rest of the world). But if you haven't experienced it before, we think you're going to like it. This is what you can expect:

Results by email

Your own personal results emailed to you straight after the director has finalised the scores. The email not only tells you what you scored, how you placed, and any masterpoints you won, but also tells you your average percentage by role* (ie the boards where you were declarer, defender - even dummy!), and how you did on your best, worst and most interesting board of the session.

Free access to Pianola Plus

Pianola Plus gives you extra analysis of your performance by comparing your bidding and card play to the best in field and revealing where you could have done better.

In addition, you can replay any hand with card-by-card guidance about how to achieve the maximum number of tricks as declarer or defender.

Pianola Plus normally costs $10 a month, but it is being provided to you completely free of charge for the duration of the event.

What you need to do

On Wednesday 8 June we will be sending an email to all the players for whom we have an email address on file. If you receive this email it means you're on the list. If you haven't had an email by then - or just want to make sure you're on the list, please email your name and ABF number to vcc@pianola.net.

You can also register by visiting the Pianola stand at the event.

If you don't want to receive any emails, you can either (a) email vcc@pianola.net or (b) click the unsubscribe link on any of the emails you receive from the system. You will immediately be removed from the list.

And in case you're wondering - your email address will not be shared with anyone else and nor will it be used for any purpose other than in connection with this service from the VCC. You will definitely NOT receive any spam or other marketing as a results of using this service. If you have any concerns or questions, please email vcc@abf.com.au or james@pianola.net

Visit the Pianola stand

James Ward, Pianola's Founder will have a stand in the Lobby on Level One. You'll find him there before the start of each session from Thursday to Sunday. Visit him to learn more about Pianola or to register your email address.

Win a $50 voucher for Paul Lavings BridgeGear

Everyone who signs up to receive their results by email will be entered into a free prize draw to win a $50 voucher to spend at Paul Lavings website.
