2. Notice calling for additional applicants:

The ABF has decided to reopen applications for the remaining vacant places in the 2002 Open and Women's Playoff field. This step is taken because although the plan for the Playoffs envisaged the entry of 16 pairs, only 15 pairs applied for each field before the Committee met. One vacancy exists in the Open, and two in the Women's. Vacancies (and any withdrawals) will be filled by the eligible pair with the highest number of PQP's.

This call for applications is being sent to the remaining eligible players in each PQP field, as well as being displayed on the ABF website. Please note that eligibility entails meeting the following requirements:

Eligible players who have received 20 or more Open, and 15 or more Women's Playoff Qualifying Points may nominate for the Playoff as a pair with an eligible partner who received points in the same unit.

Full details are available on the ABF website at:

http://www.abf.com.au/events/playoffs/2002/info.html

Intending applicants are strongly urged to study the details on the site before completing their applications. Applicants must complete:

(a) The Playoff Entry Form

(b) Supply a Standard ABF System card on disk using the Edwards CCE and a paper copy printed from that disk plus a maximum of 2 supplementary A4 sheets completed on one side only (electronic version as a Word or text file)

(c) Ensure that both players have completed and filed with Michael Wilkinson a Declaration of Eligibility.

(d) Enclose an entry fee of $140 per player

(e) Submit all of the above material by mail to the ABF Secretariat, PO Box 397, Fyshwick 2609 ACT, marked "2002 Playoff".

The closing date for entries is 4.00pm on 24th January 2002. The final Playoff field for the Open and Women will be published in the March ABF Newsletter, and on the ABF website.
