How did 6S/E make here? (Match 3, Bd 13)

Say South leads K.

Declarer wins A then cashes trumps and diamonds, without much hope. This the ending:

On dummy's last spade, North has to pitch a heart, declarer the 8 and South?

It appears that some South's foolishly pitched the 9. Then A followed by J forced South to deliver the last trick to dummy's 9.
