In accordance with the draft regulations and previous actions regarding insufficient entries

Should there be insufficient entries, i.e. less than sixteen pairs, the ABF Tournament Committee in its sole discretion may augment the field either by reopening entries OR by permitting a wildcard entry of a pair which, notwithstanding that they may have been ineligible to enter the seniors as a result of PQP restrictions, are otherwise eligible to compete in the Designated Events.

the ABF proposes to reopen the entries as follows.

A Pair may nominate provided that it complies with the following:

  • Entries are reopened herewith and will close at 16:00 Friday 7th April 2006. An announcement of the successful nominations immediately following consultation between the ABF and the convener on the matter expected to be Sunday 9th April 2006
  • Entries are to be emailed to the convener David Stern at . If you have not received an email confirmation within 12 hours of submitting your entry please contact David Stern on 04-1111-1655. It is the responsibility of the entrant to ensure that their entry has been confirmed.
  • All players must be eligible to complete in WBF Seniors events, i.e. fulfil WBF residency criteria and be born on or before 31st December 1949
  • Each player must hold at least one Seniors OR Open OR Women's PQP
  • Pairs may enter regardless of whether they have any same unit PQPs
  • The ABF proposes to accept one entry from those received based on who they, in their sole discretion, consider would best represent Australia in the PABF in Shanghai should they be successful in the Playoffs. While PQPs will be used as a guideline the ABF is not obliged in any way to use PQPs as the sole or major factor in deciding the successful entrant.
  • In addition the ABF may nominate two additional entrants pursuant the calling of additional entries as reserves for the event and in so doing will nominate an order for those reserves.
NB. Pairs selected as a result of reopening will NOT be eligible for subsidies to the Playoffs.
