Please note the following regulation:

It is the responsibility of ALL players, whether or not they have completed this form, to arrive for play with a properly completed ABF standard system card and appropriate supplementary sheets. Whether or not a pair has completed a System Disclosure Form, the CTD, in his sole discretion, may insist on pairs not arriving with properly completed system cards, supplementary sheets or Yellow System Disclosure sheets playing a totally natural system until the necessary paperwork is completed.

If you have any problems with any aspect of the procedures then please contact David on 04-1111-1655

The Convention Card Editorcan be downloaded from the ABF site or by pressing this link

Designated Events 2004 By entering the playoffs each pair declares their availability for the 2004 designated event which is the World Bridge Federation Seniors Cup to be held in Istanbul Turkey 24th to 30th October 2004.

The ABF reserves the right to withdraw a designated event if in its sole discretion it believes that security issues associated with the venue for a designated event warrant such a withdrawal. The ABF declares its intention to be guided but not exclusively bound to travel advisory warnings issued by the Australian Government in the exercise of this discretion.

In the event that the ABF withdraws a designated event, it is accepted that it will not necessarily offer a substitute event.

If the ABF indicates its intention to withdraw a designated event on these grounds but the players decide to attend the event regardless but without subsidy. The players will be ratified as the Australian team and will be required to release the ABF from any liability that might arise out of such a decision.

PQP"font-weight: 700; ">: PQPs for the 2004 playoffs are awarded to pairs finishing in the top half of the field in the 2004 Seniors Playoffs in accordance with the regulations for the event.

Format - 2 Phases
Phase 1 - will be a
round robin of 15 x 14 board matches to rank the teams 1 through 16 with scoring by IMPs against a datum (top and bottom eliminated) and converted to VPs on the 12 Board WBF scale.

Phase 2 - at the end of Phase 1, the pair finishing second in Phase 1 shall choose as their team mates one of the pairs finishing third, fourth or fifth. The remaining two pairs will form the opposition.

The two teams will then contest a 64 board match, played in 16 board segments. The team containing the second placed pair shall have the choice of sitting first for the first and third segments or the second and fourth segments.

Scoring will be by total IMPs. A tie shall be broken by successive four board playoffs.

Subject to ratification by the ABF qualification for the Australian Seniors Team will be the pair finishing first in Phase 1 plus the winning team from Phase 2.

General: All matches will be played with screen tables and written bidding. Dummy will be asked to record the play to the first four+ tricks to allow journalists to report on the tournament.

Please note the regulations in respect of late arrival and slow play

NOTE The convenor reserves the right to recommence matches 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14 earlier if possible thus extending the lunch break or finishing earlier.

The convenor is aware that some players may be seeking to depart Sydney on Sunday evening and will make every effort to ensure a prompt finish on Sunday. It is unlikely that play can be completed substantially before the scheduled completion time of 5:15pm. Interstate visitors should be able to get taxis quite easily on the street (or we can phone for one) and should allow 40 minutes to reach Sydney Airport. It is therefore recommended that the earliest booking which should be made for return flights should be 7:00pm.
