What should I Bid? - Best enquiry for October 2002

The best submission in October came yet again from Sartaj Hans.

Dealer W, NS are vulnerable against not vulnerable opponents
Bidding: West North East South
  P P 5C ?

Comments:
The opponents chose to double when partner unleashed this deadly preempt. I thought that 5S was best given that there are only three losers and partner needs just one of these.

And David's Response:

G'day Sartaj,
This hand has given me great pain which is why I have been slow to reply.
I like 5S. Pass has some appeal. Double may work out but seems odd with a diamond void. I loathe 6C- partner needs both spade and heart fillers and there has to be no club ruff to make twelve tricks.
So what was right on this one?
Regards
Dave.

Sartaj: 6C is a good save against the vulnerable game and the agressive preempt allowed us to buy the contract a level lower.
