Comments:
Dear David,
As you can see, both 7S and 7NT make here. Is there a more elegant way of bidding this? I was playing with Jane Russ, and we both felt we should have found the Grand Slam, even with one King missing.

And David's Response:
The hand you gave me is a troublesome one.
The key is the 5NT bid, which guarantees interest in a Grand Slam, and therefore all first round controls. If responder is uncertain, then they should show the number of kings they hold and leave the final decision to partner. In this case, however, South has a good source of tricks in hearts, a great spade holding and should bid 7S over 5NT directly.

All the best,
David Beauchamp
