The 2007 Playoffs to select the Australian Open & Womens Teams are played in a teams format as a double round robin with a bye, followed by a semi final and a final.

Each field (Open, Women) consists of six teams qualified by PQP and one team qualified by the Last Train.

Each player must play at least 6 matches in the round robins and 2 stanzas in each of the semi-final and final.

The minimum qualification is determined on Tuesday 21st November 2006.

Open                24 PQP or such lesser number as is necessary to qualify at least 60 players.

Women            6 PQP or such lesser number as is necessary to qualify at least 60 players.

Qualified players may nominate in one team only.

Women players eligible for both Playoffs may nominate for either, but not both.

Nominations close at 4.00 pm on Friday 15th December 2006. Each nomination must

·     designate three pairs who have earned a minimum of 1 PQP in the same unit and specify a           playing or non-playing captain or contact person.

·     mail or fax the entry form and declarations of availability for all team members to ABF Headquarters PO Box 397, Fyshwick, 2609 or fax: 02 6239 1816

.     entry forms without signed declarations of availability are not valid and will not be accepted.

Nominations are ranked by the team Playoff Points calculated as the total of 100% of the PQP earned by designated pairs in the same unit plus 50% of the PQP earned by the designated pairs in different units.

The designation of successful teams is promulgated on the website on Tuesday 19th December 2006. Successful Teams become liable for the entry fee of $1320, less any travel subsidy regardless of whether they actually compete and notwithstanding that the entry fee is payable on the first day of the Playoff.

The entry fee is payable by two cheques; (amounts published on the website in early February). One cheque is returned to teams not qualifying for the semifinals.

Travel subsidies will be determined by the Treasurer. Any changes will be determined by the Management Committee at the meeting in January.

A completed system disclosure form (found on the website), even if nil exceptions, for each partnership must be delivered to ABF Headquarters before 4.00pm Friday February 23rd 2007

The target events for 2007 are:

May 9 – 12                                Zone Seven Championship, Christchurch

September 29 – October 13        WBF Bermuda Bowl, Venice Cup & Senior Bowl, Shanghai

June 4 - 13                                PABF Championship, Indonesia

The players that represent Australia at the Zonal Championship are the players entitled to represent Australia at the WBF events.

The teams successful in the Playoff must complete a further declaration including an indemnity agreement before representing Australia in a designated event.

It is anticipated that players who advise their car registrations before Friday March 9th may park at the Hakoah Club for a small fee.
