System Cards for the Australian National Championships (ANC)

Dear State Secretary

The ABF has decided to go hi tech for the 2001 ANC. In the past, each State has collected the system cards for all participants in their ANC teams and posted them to each State Secretary who then copies them and distributes the relevant systems to players in the various categories (Open, Women, Seniors and Youth). This is a chore and usually creates a few heated exchanges between the person responsible for collecting the systems and the players.

With the availability of the free software created by Lee Edwards and available on the ABF website (www.abf.com.au/system/index.html), it has been decided to ask each State to use this program to generate ABF System Cards for each of their participating pairs in the Open, Women, Senior and Youth teams. The software is easy to use, and many players in Australia already use it to produce their system cards. Only a small learning curve is involved in becoming an expert with this program. The program generates two files, one for each of the two sides of the ABF system, and the files are quite small in size.

What we are asking you to do is the following:

1. Ask each pair in your representative sides to use the CCE program (Convention Card Editor) to generate their system card. (If this is done for your State Teams selection event, this will already be available for the pairs who eventually make the team(s). Making it part of your State's Supplementary Regulations for state selection would make this easy).

2. Collect the files from each pair and email them (as a file attachment) to Valerie Cummings (webinfo@abf.com.au) who will then place each system card file on the ABF website so they are accessible by each State for downloading opponents systems. The files will be displayed categorised by State and Event (Open, Women, Senior, Youth). Some sort of standardised file naming is preferred (such as nswopen1, nswopen2, etc).

As this is a new initiative, and hopefully will relieve the workload of the person in your State responsible for this in the past, you will support this measure. Feedback and suggestions are most welcome.

Dennis Yovich
Secretary, ABF
